Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Ensure you have a compatible Yealink IP phone base station.

  1. Charge the handset: Insert battery, place handset in charging cradle, connect power adapter.
  2. Register to base station: Power on your Yealink IP desk phone (e.g., T46G).
  3. Initiate registration: On the desk phone, go to Menu > Registration > DECT > Handset Registration.
  4. Complete pairing: On the W73H, press and hold the OK key until "Registration" appears, then follow prompts.

WARNING! Use only the provided power adapter and charging cradle. Do not expose to liquids.

First-Time Setup

After successful registration, configure basic settings.

  1. Set language: Press Menu > Settings > Language, select preferred language.
  2. Set date and time: Usually synchronized from the base station/IP PBX.
  3. Adjust volume: Use volume keys during a call or in standby mode.
  4. Configure ringtone: Menu > Settings > Sound > Ringtone.
  5. Add contacts: Menu > Directory > New Contact.

CAUTION! Ensure the handset is fully charged before first use for optimal battery calibration.

Access Menu via the dedicated Menu key. Navigation uses the 4-way directional key and two soft keys.

Key Functions: On/Off (Long press), Send/Answer Call, End Call, Mute, Volume Up/Down, Headset, Speakerphone, Navigation Key, Menu, Back, Contacts, Call List.

Menu Structure: Directory, Call Lists (Missed/Received/Placed), Messages, Settings (Sound, Display, Language, Network, Handset Info), Features (Intercom, Forwarding).

Settings: Adjust backlight timeout, contrast, ring volume, vibration, keypad tone. Network settings are typically managed from the base station.

Connecting to Base Station

The W73H works as a satellite handset to a registered Yealink DECT base (built into compatible desk phones).

  1. Ensure the base station (desk phone) is powered on and connected to the IP network.
  2. Put the base in registration mode (Menu > Registration > DECT).
  3. On the W73H, press and hold OK until it searches and finds the base ID.
  4. Confirm registration on the base station screen. The handset will show "Registration Successful".
  5. Up to 5 W73H handsets can be registered to one base.

Tip: For best range, place the base station in a central, elevated location.

Making and Receiving Calls

Once registered, the handset operates like an extension of the base phone.

  1. Make a Call: Enter number with keypad and press Send. Or select from Directory/Call List and press Send.
  2. Answer a Call: Press Send or any volume key when ringing.
  3. End a Call: Press End key.
  4. Mute: Press Mute key during a call. Press again to unmute.
  5. Hold: Press the Hold soft key during a call.
  6. Transfer: During a call, press More > Transfer, enter target number, press Send.
  7. Conference: During first call, press More > Conference, call second party, press More > Conference again to merge.
  8. Use Speakerphone: Press Speaker key during a call or before dialing.

WARNING! Maintain a safe distance from the base station to avoid call drops. Stay within DECT range.

Advanced Features

Intercom: Make internal calls between registered handsets on the same system. Dial the internal extension number.

Call Forwarding: Set via the base station phone's web interface or phone menu (e.g., forward all calls to another extension).

Headset Use: Connect a 2.5mm wired headset to the port. For wireless, use a compatible Bluetooth adapter (not included).

Belt Clip: Attach to the back of the handset for carrying.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug charger before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the handset and cradle. Do not use chemicals or abrasive materials.

Battery Care: For longest life, perform a full discharge/charge cycle every few months. Avoid extreme temperatures.

CAUTION! Do not disassemble the handset. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.

Troubleshooting
